OCA student in photography mag

posted 9th September 2008

OCA student Tony Blake had two photographs featured in the August edition of Outdoor Photography magazine.

The two images, below, were taken as part of Assignment 1: Contrasts in the Photography 1: Art of Photography course. "The only competition I ever entered was earlier this year when Outdoor Photography magazine were asking for pictures of trees... to my surprise I recently received an email from the editor asking if I'd mind her using them in the August issue of the magazine. Naturally I said yes..."

Photographs of trees from contrasts assignment

In his assignment notes, Tony wrote "The real tree was spectacular in that it was showing off like a Peacock and is very much a living organism. The 'phoney tree' (excuse the pun) is no more than a disguised mobile phone mast and mimics the other picture completely, but is a total fraud. So in many ways they are the same and yet they contrast completely."
