I was born in the Rhondda Valleys, South Wales and studied at Cardiff, Newport and Leeds Colleges of Art as well as the Academia di belle Arti, Florence and Leeds University.
In 1983 I moved to Cornwall with my family, settling in the Poltesco Valley on the Lizard Peninsula where I have lived and worked ever since.
My artistic involvements include two Welsh Arts painting awards and commissions by the Leeds Education department to paint two large murals. I have also been awarded Italian Government Scholarships on three occasions to study and paint in Italy, two residencies at the Fundacion Valparaiso, Spain and was a Fulbright Scholar as part of the UK/USA Exchange programme in Miami, Florida.
I have exhibited my work widely with numerous exhibitions across the UK and abroad, including one man shows in Miami U.S.A., the Royal Cornwall Museum in Truro, Falmouth Art Gallery and at the Chiesa di Santa Maria della Spina,Pisa Italy.
My teaching experiences are just as extensive and cover all age groups and levels of ability, including Art Therapy, Community Arts, Art College, Adult and Community Education. Although I gave up full time teaching in 1989 to concentrate on my own art work, my interest and enjoyment of teaching has continued with my part time teaching involvements at a variety of art centres in Italy, Spain, France, Greece and the UK. More recently I became a tutor for the Open College of the Arts for their Painting and Drawing courses.
