Teaching

My current work with the Moroccan Memories project involves running photography workshops for tutors, interviewers and children expressing their experiences through photography.

Work and personal background

My recent work has concentrated on two areas: working as photography tutor for the Moroccan Oral and Visual History project and organising and running landscape photography workshops in North West Scotland. For the Oral History project, I have given field workers who are interviewing families a basic training in photography so that they can capture visual representations of Moroccan children with the object of helping them express photographically their view of their view of their culture and how they fit into their surroundings.

A spin off from this is that I am working on my own personal project of London Britishness and will be drawing on my experiences with this and the Moroccan memories project to present a paper at the University of Sussex in the autumn.

Title – Photography and Meaning amongst Moroccans in London

In Scotland, I am working with Andy summers the Assynt Senior Ranger, on running accompanied walking photographic workshops for the local community and tourists during the holiday season.

I am also doing ad hoc photographic work to supplement my communications work – for example I have supplied the photography for the Kensington and Chelsea out of Hours service Annual Report, the publicity/promotional material photography for the local dance school.
