Moyrah Gall

Moyrah Gall was born in the Grampian region of the Scottish Highlands. She spent much of her early childhood in transverse of the Atlantic Ocean between America and Scotland.

Qualifying as a Land Rover mechanic enabled her to work in Zimbabwe. Inspired by the country and people she remained and travelled on, through South Africa, Mozambique, Malawi and Tanzania, returning to Britain briefly, before embarking on her first self initiated photographic assignment to Belarus. Motivated by this experience, she went on to study at Brighton University. During her studies, she joined a program run by Chelsea College to Krakow Academy of Art, and later arranged to take part in an exchange at the School of Art & Design in Amiens, France.

A move to Wales was instigated as studies continued when she undertook a postgraduate diploma in documentary photography at the Centre for Photographic Research at University of Wales College, Newport and later completed her MA in Photography at Swansea.

Moyrah presently lives on the beautiful coastline of West Wales. Her photographic interest lies in historic photography, such as contemporary documentary issues surrounding culture and the landscape.

Most recent, is her work ‘Shooting The Past’, a series of images generated alongside an archaeological project located in the landscape of a Cistercian Abbey, Strata Florida, Wales that sets out to explore the changing landscape and its past meaning. The images incorporate ideas of psycho-geography, a narrative engaging fact and the imagination in conjunction with the geographical location reflecting its history.

Moyrah has firmly established her reputation as a versatile professional within the field of photography. She exhibits nationally and internationally in both public and commercial spaces.
