Lesley Mountain has been writing short stories and poetry since the early 1990s.
She started her writing career with the OCA Starting To Write course. Since then she has been shortlisted for a number of writing competitions and has won the Gateshead Short Story prize. She has also been published in a number of magazines and anthologies.
In 2004 her first poetry pamphlet “Hunting the Air” was published by Vane Women Press. She has an MA (distinction) in Creative Writing from Newcastle University. She is a member of the High Level Bridge Poets, a poetry feedback group that meets monthly, and keeps her practice up-to-date by attending regular workshops.
She co-ordinates and presents a literature programme “NE1’s Words” on local community radio.
