Jim Unsworth

Jim studied at the University of Reading from 1976 to 1980 gaining a First Class Degree in Fine Art. Since then he has worked as a professional artist out of studios initially in Greenwich and currently in Bow, in London.

Jim has exhibited work extensively both nationally and internationally and has exhibited in many prestigious venues. He has shown in the Serpentine Gallery, the Whitechapel Art Gallery, and the Royal Academy, in the UK, for example. Abroad he has represented Britain in Kunst Europa, an exhibition organised by the British Council and has shown work in the Musee Bourdelle in Paris. He has also made commissions in the USA at Franconia Sculpture Park and in the UK for Sculpture at Goodwood to name but two. Jim is currently represented by Art for Investment, Surrey and by Thompson’s Gallery in London.

From 1988 to 2004 Jim was Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at Winchester School of Art teaching on Year Zero, BA and MA courses as well as supervising PhD Students. He has taught at many Art Schools and Universities both as a guest speaker and as visiting studio lecturer. Jim runs workshops from his studio in conjunction with Bow Arts.

As a tutor for the Open College of the Arts he supports distance learning students and face to face students in Drawing, Painting (levels 1 & 2), Watercolour and Sculpture (levels 1, 2 & 3).
