I have also been a programme leader on a variety of courses in my teaching career which have been an extremely valuable experience.
Relevant degree:
I have a BA Hons Degree in Textiles which covers a wide range of studies from printed and dyed textiles through to construction, including weave and knit and also hand and machine free embroidery and drawing and painting skills used in general design work. How adults learn:
I have taught students with a range of educational needs, from a variety of ages, cultures and backgrounds and have been a programme leader on a range of courses. One of them was the Access course for Art & Design (for Adults returning to learn). I always included a variety of activities at a range of levels which included practical and written work to enhance their studies and to also communicate on a one to one for tutorials which would include support and guidance.
Teaching and learning for adults:
I would be able to provide a learning environment which would necessitate their needs and course of study, by being flexible in correspondence and the tuition needed on a one to one basis. I would be able to send a variety of documentation from which the students can research and learn the subject to enable them to achieve their goals and qualification level. I would be able to send projects and guidance required to fulfil the level being taught. It is also possible for me to send and receive and to keep in communication with the OCA on a range of matters etc. I am at present studying L2 IT to have the qualification for teaching.
Diverse backgrounds:
I have always taught groups of students and some who need more one to one from a variety of cultural, work and different educational needs. I have taught younger students with challenging personalities and with a variety of support needs. I have taught from the ages of 16 through to 70 years of age due to the programmes and qualifications that I have been teaching on.
Students and disabilities:
I have taught some students with sight problems through to being wheel chair bound and have found them ways of studying which have shown them that they are able to achieve their goals even if they have needed more time for challenging tasks etc. We had a very good equal opportunities policy in my last place of work and from this I was able to educate my self about the needs of others who maybe physically disabled and the needs they have
