James Cowan

I was born and educated in Glasgow and later studied painting at Chelsea School of Art where I gained a 1st class Hons degree and an MA in Fine Art.

I have taught for a number of years in adult and further education and have been tutoring with the Open College of the Arts since it began in 1988 and have been an assessor and senior tutor.

I currently teach A level, National Diploma and HNC students, at Brooklands College in Surrey and have worked as a curriculum manager as well as A level moderator for Edexcel.

As an artist I work as a painter and etcher and exhibit my work as often as possible. My most recent exhibitions have been with the Kaupthing, Singer and Friedlander watercolour exhibition and also in the Discerning Eye exhibition. At the moment I am working on a series of paintings and etchings of London, New York and Venice.
