I’ve been in Art education for over 30 years teaching in schools and colleges, and was latterly on the staff at Bristol University tutoring students who had taken their initial degrees and were going on to become specialist teachers of Art. I’ve also written for “Arts Review” over a 20 year period and have produced monographs and catalogue introduction for a variety of contemporary artists. My interest in the links between literature and the visual arts led in 1980 to the publication of the four season’s anthology (O.U.P) which I compiled with Geoffrey Summerfield. I’m interested in a wide range of creative media – I taught printmaking for a decade – but now find myself more engaged with drawing and the re-creation of landscape.
I have been an Open College of the Arts tutor since June 2004, tutoring drawing, painting and Art & Design courses.
