Diane Walkey

I am a professional artist living and working in West Wales. I make my living out of both painting and photography and have done so for over ten years.

I have an MA in Art & Design Education and have been involved in Art Education for over twenty years, first as a teacher and later as an OCA tutor.

I became an Open College of the Arts tutor in September 2004, tutoring Photography and Painting courses.

My photographic work concentrates now on social documentary projects e.g. a series of fifty portraits of West Wales Artists in their studios that was assisted by funding from Pembrokeshire County Council and exhibited widely in West Wales.

After winning a national competition in The Independent, in conjunction with The Energy Saving Trust, my work was featured in a special newspaper supplement and exhibited at The Science Museum, London for three months.

My photographs have also been exhibited at one of the RPS International Print shows and by Epson Digital Visions.

My paintings are in private collections as far a field as Norway, Germany, Nova Scotia and Scotland. I paint in oils in an expressive abstract style. I often paint with knives or with bits of card as well as with cloth, brushes or my fingers!
