Christian Lloyd

I am a practicing graphic designer, artist and educator. Originally from South Wales, I have been living in Yorkshire for almost 20 years.

Since graduating with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design from Chelsea College of Art & Design in 1990, I have been a practicing graphic designer and illustrator working mostly within the arts, education and community sectors working both as a freelancer and for a number of companies. Clients include Opera North, West Yorkshire Playhouse, London Rivers Association, Locws International and Leeds City Council, creating publicity material, books, leaflets, websites and exhibition designs.

My arts practice has playfully explored the idea of entertainment, storytelling and the carnivalesque through painting, animation, short films, performance and printmaking, with exhibition in Yorkshire, Wales and Canada and performances and film screenings in Belgium, Holland and Germany. In 2003 I completed a Masters degree in Contemporary Fine Art Practice at Leeds Metropolitan University and most recently I have been involved in a collaborative project called Bristow Lloyd which brings together creative writing and typography.

Alongside being a tutor at OCA I work part-time at Leeds College of Art, running a degree in Visual Communication. As an educator I have worked for over ten years in adult, further and higher education teaching graphic design, illustration, printmaking and digital media. I have supported students in winning numerous awards including D&AD Student Awards; Best in Show 2007, Photography (Gold 2004), Animation (Gold 2003) & Photography (Silver 2001).

I have a strong interest in distance learning, having been employed by Leeds Metropolitan University to develop learning materials for one of their faculties and most recently completing a PGCE in Online and Distance Education through the Open University.
