Hi all
I've just got my Course book Painting 1: Starting to paint. My first time at distance learning. I intend to work my way throughto a BA in Fine Art, a long way to go! Ive studied before in 2004 with U.C.E Birmingham and gained a BTEC Dip. in Art & Design. Have been painting for 8 years now but feel a bit stuck in a groove. Hence this course. Any advice welcome, especially with journals. Do I keep a seperate written reflective journal as well a a logbook/sketchbook, or is this not necessary?

I think you'll find the references in some courses are to a reflective journal and in others to a logbook. Unless you are asked for both then they are the same thing but a sketch book is separate. I would have preferred it had you said 'a separate sketchbook as well as a reflective journal/logbook', then I would have no hesitation in saying 'yes'
There are some on line support booklets here which includes one on learning logs and sketchbooks.

Thanks Peter. I found the booklet sketchbooks & learning logs very useful. I think i will keep a seperate sketchbook & journal/logbook as you suggest.

Hi Chasm - I have recently started Painting 1 and was interested to read about the support booklets. I phoned up the office to ask to have all the booklets sent to me . They arrived the very next morning! (Great service) I found all of them very useful.
