CO-ORDINATOR NINA MILTON
When you enter your short story into a competition, do you write it, post it off and keep your fingers crossed? Writing a good short story takes skill – winning a place in a competition takes skill and cunning.
In the workshop you can work on new or completed stories, where we’ll examine all the components of creating a good submission and look at the sort of stories that have been successful in the past in various competitions. As well as analysing a winning short story format, there will be the chance to take part in writing exercises and have previous work critiqued in a sharing and safe environment.
Nina is a published children’s writer and winner of short story competitions, including the Wells Literary Festival and Crossroads. She has recently written the new STARTING TO WRITE course materials for the Open College of the Arts, and has both judged short story competitions and has celebrated her writing students' success in them.
