Contextual Studies Workshop
(Landscape session)

Wednesday 24 February 2010
11.30 -3.30 p.m.

What we can learn by copying from paintings (works of Art)? This session will encourage students to regularly use their sketchbooks to capture the essence and spirit of various (great) works of art. This is not an Art History session. It is about understanding what the painter or sculptor is trying to convey; studying the process and thinking in the works of art; and seeing how this can inform the students own work. It will also serve to reinforce the good practice of keeping a sketchbook, and aid the evaluation and self-evaluation needed to maintain a logbook.

Numbers: maximum of 20 students.
Materials: A4 sketchbook, Pencils, graphite, oil pastels and Neocolour crayons –no paints please.
Fee: £35.00 Pay by cheque in advance.
Tutor: Richard Liley BA (Hons), FRSA, RTS
