This course will be available late 2010. This course is suitable for anyone with an interest in music who is interested in developing an understanding of art music and its history.
The course covers Western classical music from c1450 to the present day, it provides an introduction to key composers and repertoire , introduces basic musical notational and theoretical concepts and
will help you understand the sociological aspects of musical performance

The objectives of this course are to be able to:
Students will be encouraged to listen to music from each era, and to develop their own opinions, preferences and responses to the music.
You are allocated a tutor and receive their details in your course pack. You work from the course materials and send regular assignments to your tutor. These are returned to you with comment and advice. The course fee includes tutor feedback on your set assignments, but you can purchase feedback and comment on additional pieces of work if you wish.
